The book of Proverbs states clearly that it is wise to fear the Lord God.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
God created everything in creation, Heaven, and beyond. Nothing that He has created has power over Him. God the Father answers to no one and no one can bring Him to an accounting. He does what He wants to do as His reign over everything gives Him that sovereign right. No one can even come to within any measurement to challenge since all power is His.
Knowing that God the Father is at the top of all things there should be no fear in any believer of anything or anyone else expect God as He reigns over it all. The good news is that God loves us so much that we believers should realize that the fear of God should be in the form of reverence. If you are not a believer then straight outright fear is what you should feel and experience. The book of John says it better.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
Two thirds of you have the wisdom that Proverbs speaks of. The rest are either non-believers or believers that do not understand their relationship with God.
God the Father is so holy that even among those that are considered holy He is holy amongst them. He is far removed from all of His creation in power and in thought. He is worthy of all glory and honor as He has brought us into the living, taken care of all of our needs, and seeks to bring us into His eternal loving presence forever and ever. There should be no doubt as to why God the Father should be revered and glorified.
For us believers so long as we remain within God’s unfailing love, it endures forever, we shall not fear anything else. If we step out of His love into wickedness then we have all to fear. Death would overcome us if we did not repent.
The non-believer is blinded by the world’s teachings and will taste the fear of the Lord when death comes upon them. Only if they repent and ask Jesus into their hearts will they not taste the eternal death.
Fear of God is a good thing if it is used to maintain self control in obeying the Lord’s commands and decrees. More than fear, a lot more, love the Lord God with all of your heart, mind, and soul. Do so and you will not have to fear Him as your obedience keeps His wraith at bay. May the Lord God shine His face upon you in love. |
