In writing the pieces that I do I assume the Bible to be the ultimate source of truth. If it is in the Bible then a reference to the scripture settles the argument in my mind. That works fine for believers like me that read this site but those that are not believers do not have faith in the Bible as the ultimate source for truth.
To some unbelievers the Bible is just a bunch of stories on par with Greek or Nordic mythology. To other unbelievers it is just an annoyance like many religions are to them and gets in the way of the evolution of humanity through scientific methods.
Ironically, science is a religion in and of itself. The followers of science need to have a deep faith, as Christians do in the word of God, with the concept of the big bang. To believe that all matter in the universe exploded from a super dense point in time and the void of space takes a lot of faith.
The big bang theory does not answer what space is nor does it answer where did all the matter originate from. It simply assumes the answers are that space is a vast void and matter has always existed without beginning or end. It goes on stating there have been several big bangs and several collapses of the universe in on itself. None of those answers hold much depth or meaning.
Similarly, Christians believe God is the source of all power and created all things including the vastness of space and all matter within. We believe God transcends the universe and that He has had no beginning and has no end.
Science cannot believe in God because He is not within the realm of its understanding. Therefore the big bang is it as far as science is concerned. Along the same lines as the big bang evolution is the next piece of science that exists to explain life in the universe. Without a definable god in science evolution is the only theory that makes an attempt to make any sense in the scientific community.
However, evolution has many assumptions of its own. It does not answer how life forms out of non-organic materials nor has any proof that life can leap from a mixture of chemicals and heat. Without a blueprint we are expected to believe that simple single celled organisms came into being from a concoction of chemicals. Through a series of mutations over 100s of millions of years the single celled organisms evolved into complexed organisms like you and I. How such complicated organisms simply evolved without any supreme intelligence guiding their development would be the biggest miracle if it were true.
Evolution requires faith just as much as creationism does. Creationism simply says that a being far more advanced in every way has unlimited power and intellect. This supreme being defined and created the foundations of the universe and everything within it. Everything within this supreme being’s creation was made purposefully. Nothing was out of place or existed out of harmony. In other words, there was no chaos but order to everything.
Unlike creationism the theories of the big bag and evolution are very chaotic and are defined by that chaos. Evolution is about mutations and survival of a species based on what those mutations bring to the table. Some mutations benefited the species and others were useless. More times that not, if you believe in evolution, the majority mutations would be useless. Hence, how can anything exist in the in a world defined by evolution.
Science says survival of the fittest is how the stronger species have continued life on earth. The probability of any species surviving the harsh realities of the world simply based on chance is extremely small to non-existent.
In creationism God predesigns all life forms and simply brings them into existence at His will. The life forms are capable of survival from the get-go because they were made specifically for the environments they would reside in. Instead of evolving the life forms have the ability to adapt to changing conditions (i.e. climate and weather).
Evolution fails to account for drastic climate and weather conditions as it is simply too slow (in theory) to allow the life forms to adapt by mutation. Therefore a godless universe defined by evolution would be lifeless.
To me it is easier, obviously, to believe in God and creationism. It also helps that God has revealed Himself to me through amazing miracles and experiences. God is a personal God so each person receives their own proof of God directly from Him. There is no evidence of God the science could observe or quantify. That is what makes God holy even in a world that tries to reject Him. He is beyond our definition. |
